Salina School Board Interviews Two Superintendent Candidates

On Thursday afternoon, the USD 305 Board of Education interviewed two KASB-recommended interim superintendent candidates.

The candidates were:

  • Dr. James Hardy – Hardy resigned as the superintendent of USD 413 in Chanute to spend more time with his family. He had been with the district since July 2011.
  • Dr. Diane DeBacker – DeBacker was the Kansas Education Commissioner from 2010 through 2014. She was a school principal and associate superintendent for two different school districts in Shawnee County.

After these interviews, which took place at the district office building, the Board determined the next steps. The process will not be completed until the Board has decided upon a finalist and negotiated a contract. The Board of Education is working with the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) to select an interim superintendent.

The interim superintendent will replace William Hall, who will resign effective June 30th.
