A former Salina man, wanted in connection with the alleged rape and assault of a woman in 2016, was arrested in his Mississippi hometown over the weekend.
Police say Billarious Gatlin, 26, was being sought on an arrest warrant stemming from a pair of incidents that occurred in December.
Gatlin’s ex-girlfriend told police that she arrived at her home in the 800 block of Rainbow on December 5th and found him waiting for her. She said he threatened her with a knife. He fled the residence after the woman locked herself and her 11-year-old son in a bedroom and called authorities.
Gatlin allegedly returned to the woman’s home in the early morning hours of December 27th, where he again threatened the woman with a knife and sexually assaulted her. Police say Gatlin took the woman’s cellular telephone during the assault to prevent her from calling for help.
Arrest warrants were issued for Gatlin in relation to both incidents. The first warrant issued was for criminal threats in the first case, while the second warrant was for multiple requested charges in the second incident including aggravated assault, criminal threats, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, intimidation of a witness and rape.
Gatlin was arrested in Tylertown, Mississippi over the weekend and extradited back to Salina, where he was booked into the Saline County Jail late Sunday morning. Gatlin was most recently featured in the February edition of the Salina’s Most Wanted list.
