Former Salina Man Killed in Kansas City Area Motorcycle Crash

A former Salina man died Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in the Kansas City area.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Casey Bezdek was riding his 2014 Harley Davidson west on Interstate 70 near the ramp at Minnesota Avenue in Wyandotte County at about 2:40 p.m., when for unknown reasons, the motorcycle’s rear tire started to drift.

Bezdek lost control of the motorcycle and struck a concrete bridge rail. He was ejected over the rail and fell approximately 90 feet and died as a result of the fall. Troopers say speed may have been a factor in the crash.

According to the Highway Patrol, Bezdek was wearing a helmet and eye protection at the time of the accident, but it wasn’t enough to protect him from the fall.

Bezdek, who was living in Kansas City, Kansas at the time of his death, was a 1998 graduate of Salina South High School.
