BREAKING: Rural Fire Crews Battling Field and Structure Fire

Saline County Rural Firefighters are on the scene of what started as a field fire southeast of Salina in the 4400 block of S. Simpson Road.

Reports from the scene indicate that a two story structure is now totally engulfed in flames as well. There have been no reports of injuries and no word on what started the fire.

Additional districts have been called in to aid in fighting the fire. More as it becomes available.

UPDATE at 3:20 p.m. –  Rural fire crews have also been called to an area southeast of New Cambria in the 300 block of Brenda Lane on a report of a grass fire resulting from a controlled burn that is out of control. No structures are threatened by this fire.

UPDATE at 3:29 p.m. –  Rural fire crews have also been sent to an area east of Salina to the 4100 block of E. Old Highway 40 in response to a pasture fire that is out of control. Trees and wood are also reported to be on fire at this location. There are no reports of structures being immediately threatened by this fire.

UPDATE at 3:46 p.m. – Dispatch has confirmed that all three fires are now under control. Other rural firefighters are also on scene of an earlier fire on S. Holmes Road just southeast of Salina . That fire has been extinguished and clean up is under way.
