Salina Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the Salina murder of a Solomon man.
According to a media release, Leobardo Velasquez, 38, of Salina, was arrested Thursday in connection with the murder.
On Sunday, September 10th at approximately 10:12 a.m., officers were sent to 721 Seneca in reference to a deceased person inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, a silver 2003 Lincoln Town Car was found parked in the driveway. Inside that vehicle was a deceased person identified as Raul Lopez-Vargas, 52, of Solomon. The case was determined to be a homicide.
Over the course of the investigation, evidence was obtained that lead to the arrest on October 12th of Velasquez. He was booked into the Saline County Jail on one count of first degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information will be released and any future inquiries will be directed to the County Attorney’s office, according to the release.
