Arizona Woman Indicted on Federal Charges in Ellsworth County Drug Case

A federal grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday against an Arizona woman in connection with a drug-related crime that allegedly occurred in Ellsworth County, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said in a release.

According to the release, Sandra Rodriguez-Ruiz, 36, of Laveen, Arizona, was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin. The crime is alleged to have occurred March 25th in Ellsworth County.

If convicted, Rodriguez-Ruiz faces a penalty of not less than 10 years and a fine up to $10 million.

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough is prosecuting.
